Happy birthday, Jane Austen. dob December 16, 1775.

Jane takes a daytrip to the Oregon coast.

*Jane Austen famously despised Bath, England.  Bath was where people went to visit the Roman baths, which were believed to have restorative healing powers.  Which they did due to the limestone hot springs.  Bath is also a coastal town, the Old English, like New Englanders, believe the sea cures all ills and a dip in the ocean will put anything right from a paper cut to poison ivy, to a head cold.

Because Bath was such a hot spot (pun intended) it became the place to go, like Vegas.  People came from all over to rub elbows with the who’s who of Austen’s time.  The party started in the Pump Room where one could find out who was in town and where to find the hippest clam bake.  Those who could afford it, or were lucky enough to know someone who would bring them along, flocked to Bath to be a part of “the scene”.  Jane hated it.  If she were alive today, she’d probably hate Vegas, too.

Big Sister

Cassandra has a lifetime of stories attesting to Jane’s little sister antics.  Jane has a similar number of stories about Cassandra’s propensity to use Jane as a model.  See the sisters together in  “Consequences”, the first actual #JaneDates comic.
